Project Overview
The development at Crompton Way, Crawley consists of a modern industrial warehouse with office space, designed to maximise efficiency and adaptability. The scheme features three mid-sized units with high-quality office space, a 10m clear internal height, and spacious yards of up to 30m. Wrenbridge set ambitious sustainability targets from the outset, prioritising a BREEAM Excellent rating as a benchmark for environmental performance.
Sustainability Strategy
Eight Versa was appointed to deliver BREEAM certification, alongside Life Cycle Assessments (LCA), Life Cycle Costing (LCC), Thermal Comfort, Operational Energy analysis, Futureproofing reports, and Ecology services. Our strategies focused on overcoming key industrial sustainability challenges, ensuring all units met the required BREEAM criteria while enhancing biodiversity and reducing operational carbon.
Key Outcomes
The project achieved a BREEAM Excellent rating with a final score of 78.8%, integrating energy-efficient features such as rooftop PV panels, ASHPs for heating and cooling, high-efficiency LED lighting, and a 41% reduction in CO₂e emissions. Additionally, biodiversity net gain was enhanced by 113% through new hedgerows, trees, and wildlife-friendly habitats.
Lasting Impact
With 18 active EV charging points, secure cycle storage, and an industry-leading Considerate Constructors Scheme score of 44/50, Crompton Way sets a new standard for sustainable industrial developments. Our collaboration with Wrenbridge continues across multiple projects, ensuring ongoing commitment to high sustainability standards.
