Turning Portfolio Data Into Retrofit Action

We’re pleased to announce a formal partnership with Building Atlas, a building analysis and energy modelling platform founded by former Google and Deloitte experts and backed by world-leading academic research in building energy simulation from the University of Victoria.

What Building Atlas Does

Their platform uses machine learning to build a detailed energy model for every individual unit in a portfolio. Not a desktop estimate, a calibrated model drawing on EPC data, building geometry, construction age, materials, use type and any available metered data. From that baseline, the platform generates intervention options, projected energy savings and optimised retrofit plans. It works at the scale of thousands of units without losing the granularity that makes the outputs useful.

What We Do

Building Atlas is an analytical engine. What comes out of it is only as good as the data that goes in and the interpretation that sits on top. That’s where we come in. We provide the consultancy overlay; validating modelling assumptions, adding sector-specific technical knowledge, engaging directly with clients to understand their constraints and priorities, and translating platform outputs into clear strategic recommendations. Eighteen years of energy consultancy for the built environment means we know what works in practice, not just how to model.

Why That Combination Matters

Most portfolio-scale energy modelling is either very high-level (typology averages, benchmarks, rules of thumb) or very slow (asset-by-asset audits over months). This partnership sits in between: rigorous unit-level modelling at speed, with consultancy-grade strategic analysis on top. The result is prioritised, decision-ready recommendations that account for real-world delivery constraints, not just theoretical abatement potential.

The partnership is already active on major portfolio commissions. If you’re responsible for a property portfolio and need to understand your route to Net Zero, CRREM alignment or simply where to spend your next pound of retrofit budget most effectively, get in touch.

To mark the new partnership, we’ve jointly produced a FREE 10 Tips for Building Retrofits guide.

The guide covers practical lessons from modelling and delivering retrofit strategies across real portfolios.
